It all began with an e-mail in the spring of 2001, just days before the
Champions League match Sturm Graz - Panathinaikos. After the Greeks
landed in Vienna and took the bus to Graz they wanted to take the
opportunity to get to know us. We took this offer and of course the next
day the two of us were sitting in the bus for Styria. The first contact
was made. A year later, the boys made the GATE 13 on their way to
Prague (Champions League match against Sparta) once a stopover in
Vienna. The next day, then went to Vienna by bus and about 15 cars on
the way to Prague to PAO voiced strong support. Even then, we found that
the reputation that precedes the Greeks, is not unfounded. They are
hot-blooded and fanatical than many Italians. After us the Greeks
visited by GATE 13 at the stadium opening in November, just before
Christmas, followed by our first visit to Athens. 15 people (UR and SIO)
flew to Greece while two guys from the Fossa dei Bastardi (now
Gioventu) by bus and train (!) Arrived. We spent three wonderful days at
the foot of the Acropolis and experienced true hospitality. In addition
to a volleyball match, we also visited the league game against
Kallithea and spent memorable hours in the premises of various
supporters clubs (MAD BOYS, UNDERGROUND, EAST END), who received us
cordially. So it was for us to exchange course of one of our banners
with our Greek friends and bring out a friendship scarf.
Two
weeks later the derby against Olympiakos on the program, and we also
flew with 10 people. The atmosphere that prevailed there in the stadium
was incredible. Much better than even the derby in Rome, Milan and
Genoa, which some of us have already experienced. Blind hatred, it was
the result that there was already before the game starts to numerous
collisions between the two groups of supporters. There were inadmissible
injured some of which floated in the short term, even in death.
Finally, the Greens won our match against the hated Red 2-0 and we flew
with the certainty of having seen the best of Europe's security Derby
home.
After looking at the Greek friends in our 15-year
anniversary honored, it was up to us in the Greek mob EC away match
against Anderlecht in Brussels support. So did a busload of UR, Old
Guard, SIO and four boys from Gate 13, who spent a few days in Vienna,
on Wednesday evening. their way into the venue of the lost European Cup
final of 1996 The trip went by fairly uneventfully and at noon we
reached the Belgian capital. After a short visit of the Atomium, we made
our way into the city, where we deal with other Greeks and the friendly
guys met by the Shamrock Rovers (Ireland). Early in the afternoon we
went on towards the stadium. The stadium we settled for a hosts, before
we went two hours in the ground. This is shown to be nice, has no
career, but the VIP boxes that go around the whole pitch disturbing, but
powerful. We tied our visit to the transparency of our friends, as we
would then hang up our VIOLA MERDA double holder it came to a violent
dispute with the Belgian folders that this Transpi conceived it as a
provocation and remote ado. The ensuing scuffle ensured that one of our
boys was temporarily arrested and taken into custody for two hours
detention. After tempers had calmed PAO lost the game but with 0:2,
managed due to the victory in the first leg 3-0 but won the climb into
the quarter-finals. After the game, there was still a short street
battle with the Belgian executive, water cannons and the local
hooligans. It came back to temporary detentions. Shortly after 1 clock
at night we could but then complete start the return journey. After
about 16 hours we were back in Vienna. A day later, we were already on
tour again. Together with the boys from Athens we went to Ried.
At that stop this for both sides so fruitful friendship may still long ... AND DO NOT FORGET TO FUCK THE RED!
